Description
The Durbar Square, with its old Temples, palaces, and shrines, sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists, epitomizes the religious and cultural life of the people. It is here that the Kings of Nepal were crowned. Until the early 20th century the Durbar Square was the Kings residence.
Kathmandu, Nepal.
In this image: The Jagannath temple is one of the oldest temples in Kathmandu Durbar Square dating back to 1563. The temple is mostly famous for its erotic carvings. The King Pratap Malla’s column was repaired after the 2015 earthquake and now stands in front of the two-storey temple.
