Tiwanaku: Spiritual and Political Centre of the Tiwanaku Culture.
The archaeological site of Tiwanaku is considered one of the largest ancient pre-diluvian sites in South America. Measuring over two miles it is home to several mysterious structures that have puzzled archaeologists. There are foundations and carvings with powerful connections to Easter Island.
Located near the southern shores of Lake Titicaca at an altitude of 3,850m, most of the ancient city has been destroyed, however the monumental stone buildings of the ceremonial centre survive to this day.
The true purpose and age of the site divides opinion which only adds to the mystery of this wonderful archaeological site.
