Description
Tibet's foremost statue of Avalokitesvara with five natural endowments, that once became the principle field of worship for the 33rd King of Tibet, was destroyed in 1966 during the cultural revolution in Tibet. This, one of two faces at the Temple depicts a Buddha Amitabh's face, were recovered and brought into exile in 1967 and 1968, and offered to his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. They date back 1300 years.
Avalokitasvara, is a bodhisattva who contains the compassion of all Buddhas.
