Description
In the smallest city in Britain, you can find this 13th centaury Gothic cathedral. Built on the site of an earlier 8th century church, it was first built as a Roman Catholic cathedral and later it became an Anglican cathedral when King Henry VIII split from Rome. Wells, Somerset, England.
Said to be England's first Gothic church which dates from the 13th century and is one of the finest examples of Gothic churches anywhere in Europe.
The West Portal with its three hundred medieval statues is the largest collection of 13th century religious carvings in Europe.
