Dead Vlei is a white clay pan located near the more famous salt pan of Sossusvlei, inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia. The skeletons trees are the remains of an ancient forest that once flourished in this part of the Namib desert. Cut off from their water source by the encroaching Sand Dunes the trees died. The hot dry climate prevents the trees decaying.

Fabulous capture Aidan. Congratulations on your feature in A Tree or Trees in Black and White group.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
